Once a thriving citrus grove, Old Las Palmas was acquired and subdivided by Prescott Stevens in the mid-1920s, with early development led by New York builder Alvah Hicks and his son Harold. The neighborhood's distinctive curvilinear streets were inspired by famed landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted.
